Jamie Vanbiber, LPC

Jamie Vanbiber (MAMFT, LPC) obtained her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy through LeTourneau University in 2011 and has been in the practice of counseling for nine years. For the 25 years prior to her vocation in counseling, she engaged with her husband in pastoral ministry and home-educated their twin daughters. Jamie’s passion has always been to bring forth as much beauty as she can from whatever she’s working with, whether it’s a vase of flowers, a piece of writing, or a complex human being. ‘To help others flourish’ is her life mission statement.

Jamie counsels both individuals and couples, with a focus on inner work, family-of-origin factors, emotional awareness, and spiritual development. She believes that all felt, external problems begin from an important, deeper place inside the person. She is acutely aware that people are complex and made up of a spectrum of interworking parts from the biological, to the psychological, the intellectual, the emotional, the relational, and the spiritual.

Jamie found the need for counseling in her own life when she hit a roadblock of major depression in her twenties due to deep feelings of unworthiness and shame. She found that being vulnerable with another and accepting help was a key to true living and takes joy in extending this same hand of love to others today.

As for counseling theory, Jamie leans toward approaches in Attachment Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Sensory Therapy, Existential Therapy (dealing with questions of meaning), Self-Compassion Therapy, Contemplative Spirituality, and a growing field called Interpersonal Neurobiology. Jamie also loves Personality Theory and enjoys using the Enneagram of personality types with her clients.

Jamie has been married to Craig for 36 years. Their pride and joy are their twin daughters, Hannah and Sarah, their two son-in-laws, Ben and Sergei, and their three beautiful grandchildren, Isaiah, Simon, and Milana.
