LISA SMITH, LPC Associate

As a familiar face at Hope Road Counseling, Lisa has served alongside the Hope Road staff and clients as a scheduler, graduate counseling intern, and now a counselor. She is a native East Texas gal who grew up loving God through serving others. She has enjoyed serving in connect groups, children's and youth ministries across much of her adult life. As she observed the struggles and suffering in children, families, and marriages she felt a tug to return to school and gain the necessary education and spiritual direction to be prepared for the work of counseling and offering hope and help to the hurting.

Between 2016 and 2022, Lisa completed a B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. While completing the educational process, she was privileged to be spiritually mentored by Hope Road’s own Sonya Reeder and RJ Ferguson through the first offering of a Spiritual Formation Group. Lisa enjoys working with individuals of all ages, yet has a strong passion for counseling kids, teens and their families. Along with her work at Hope Road, Lisa works with Mobberly Baptist Church’s support program, Thrive! For Students. She plans to continue her education toward becoming a Registered Play Therapist.

Lisa hopes to help others by utilizing the processes of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, emotion-focused work, Multicultural Family and Marriage Counseling, Premarital Counseling, Parent Coaching, Adolescent counseling, Children's and Women's counseling, and creative methods of Play Therapy. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor- Associate under Treva Barham, LPC-Supervisor, a National Board of Certified Counselors, and an American Christian Counseling Association member.

Lisa and her husband Colin have been married for 31 years. They have two sons, a daughter and a son in love.
